Graduate Diploma in Education-Secondary: No Major, Computing Minor
This course was a one year full time course, which I only studied and passed 6 units in it. Students had an option to be graded pass or fail or with numerical grades. I achieved a distinguished grade [70%] in my minor [Computing] studied at Curtin University. This unit is called: Ed 572 - Curriculum and Instruction SI - Information Technology at Curtin University. This unit transferred to Murdoch University to my Statement of Academic Records with the name of: T599.1 Ed 572-C&I SI-Info Tech (05872) with Status: Completed, and Grade: Ungraded Pass. Therefore I have pass my minor in Graduate Diploma in Education. I practiced teaching Excel, MS Office, AutoCAD, SolidWorks to my 80 private students [high school, TAFE and University] students [2011-2016] for 5 years. I chose my major in 2000 to be Science, planned to teach Physics in Upper School and teach Maths in the Lower School. The reason for this choice was that at High School during years 10-12 we were streamed to Mathematics / Physics. We did not study Biological Sciences, electives, etc. during years 10-12. My Physics in year 12 was marked 100% and I was top student [year 1-12] all the time in my school time.
My care load for the family during 2000-2001 involved care for our 4, 8, 10 years old children, my ex-husband and myself. Caring for 5 people and studying an intensive course, which I was unfamiliar with the terminology of its lessons and a husband who only could have fun with our kids [not doing house work] was my challenge at that time. As a result, the first unit I studied in Australia at university level in an intensive mode in January 2000 went fail. This unit is E205.3 Information Technology in the Classroom. I was unaware at that time that if a student has duty of care for her children in Australia can apply for "Extension for her assignments and exam". We did not have such an option in Iran. If we could get an extension for our exams during my Iranian university study, I would be the top university student. As I failed most of my exams in one semester in Iran due to becoming sick in year 1, B.Sc. course. My G.P.A in bachelor degree course is 72% and not higher for such reason.
The second fail grade in Grad. Dip. Ed. was in my major Science. In Unit: E274.3 Science and The Curriculum (Secondary) we were assessed by a 100 page assignment for Physics teaching in year 11-12, also by one exam. I achieved 98% in my assignment in Physics, but I failed the Science exam. The exam was in Chemistry because the lecturer was a doctor in Chemistry. Physics assignment was marked by a tutor, not by my lecturer. This was a shock for me! As it was a long time since I had touched a book in Chemistry and there was no time for learning Chemistry in short period of time. They did not tell us that the exam is Chemistry. I was thinking the exam would be also in Physics. I only achieved near 50% in that exam and failed. Our lecturer agreed that I should changed my major to Mathematics.
Near the exam of my new major: E275.2 Mathematics and The Curriculum (Secondary) in 2001, my son [5 years old] got ear infection] and the child care centre rejected to care for him. I went to my Maths lecturer and applied for extension for my exam to care for my child. He did not agree, as he had planned to go on holidays after the Maths. So I went and withdrew my unit E275.2 to care for my sick child with ear infection and fever, rather to prepare for Maths exam.
In unit E380.1 Special Needs, the lecturer of this unit did not write on her exam paper for this unit that the only reference students can use is Internet websites. Instead she wrote: Exam is Open Book, after I used 24 books, which I borrowed from university library and referenced in my exam paper, she failed me for unwanted references. In the second enrolment for this unit, the lecturer required one point of contact for her teaching to me, who was another university staff! This unfair relationship with a Muslim Student in September 2001, caused me to withdraw from that unit. The Ombudsman who investigated the matter issued a report which implies the lecturer lost her impartiality towards me when she failed me in my first enrolment in 2000.
Therefore during 2000-2001, I enrolled in 10 units, but I only passed 6 units, failed in 3 units and withdrew from my new major Maths for the reasons I explained above. I passed my E278.3 School Experience, in teaching Science at Thornlie High School. I have taught Physics and Mathematics to my 80 private Students during 2011-2016.
